Wilbur, an adorable Lurcher spent some time in our care at the beginning of 2023. After a few long months of patiently waiting, he finally got his happy ever after and found his perfect forever family...

"We first saw Wilbur in May 2023, and he 'fostered' us for three weeks before he agreed to adopt us as his new family in June 2023. On his first weekend with us, he managed a well earned 4th Place Rosette in the 'large breed rescue' category at the Chelmsford Dog Show.

He has fitted in so well from day one, it was as if he was always destined to come and live with us.

We were concerned he may not travel very well in the car, as we do like to book and stay at various holiday cottages around the country... but he was a natural at car travel and just loves it when he sees our bags being packed for another little adventure.

So far he has travelled to Yorkshire (twice), Bedfordshire, Hereford (twice), Lincolnshire, Devon and Northampton, with many new escapes already booked for 2024.

He loves it when our 4 year old granddaughter comes to visit, and follows her everywhere partly because she loves feeding him Bonio type of biscuits, and always lays down next to her while she plays with the dolls houses.

He loves to run free when we rent a local secure field from a farmer, but also walks along nicely when on his lead.

He gets (and loves) all the attention from older people when we visit National Trust properties and is also a big softie when children ask if they can pat him.

We have only ever had rescue type dogs and Wilbur just confirms what wonderful pets rescue animals are."
