Story

Millie is a true gem just waiting to shimmer in her forever home. She's an eight-year-old lady with a heart full of love and a sweet, affectionate nature that truly shines once she gets to know you. While Millie can be a tad reserved at first, give her a moment and you'll see her warm, sociable side blossom – she absolutely adores a good cuddle and relishes the companionship of those she trusts. Imagine the joy of coming home to a feline friend who's keen to hear about your day and ready to offer purrs of comfort after a long day's work.


Our lovely Millie isn't just a companion; she's an absolute sweetheart who, despite her initial shyness, enjoys mingling with her human pals. Let's not rush her, though, because a serene and stable environment will suit her best, especially if it's in a quiet, serene house where she can truly unwind and bask in peace on plush cushions. Older children, who understand the value of a gentle touch and a calmer approach, will make superb buddies for our sensitive Millie.


This mature miss also brings a touch of grace and serene composure to her new home, ideally one without other pets, where she can reign as the sole furry queen. Picture her perched contentedly in a sunny spot after a saunter through her secure indoor-outdoor space. Whilst toys don't seem to be her cup of tea, her purrs and presence are sure to fill any room with warmth.


Millie does come with a special request – a guardian who appreciates and understands her needs, including her renal health, and who can continue to provide the tender care she deserves in the form of her diet. In return, Millie will reward her new owner with unwavering loyalty and endless moments of quiet companionship. She's a wee bit sensitive, but aren't we all? Adoption Process & Fees

Staff are here to ensure the animals find homes which suit their needs. Most animals in our care have not had the best start in life and may require special care or training. We will assess your experience and assist you in finding the right pet for your home. Although we want our animals to start their new life with you as quickly as possible, our re-homing process can take a few weeks from start to finish. The process is as follows:

1. Check out the available animals on our website

Browse our website to find your perfect new furry family member. All animals we have available for rehoming are listed on our website, which is updated daily.

2. Fill in an online Interest Form

Fill in an online Interest Form to tell us you are looking to rehome an animal.

If you are interested in any specific animal(s) we currently have available, be sure to select them on your Interest Form when prompted! If there are no suitable furry candidates at present, we will keep your Interest Form on file and contact you if a match becomes available in future.

Optional: After filling out an online Interest Form, you can visit our Home to view the animals, allowing you to gather additional information about specific animals and determine which one is the perfect fit for you and your family. We no longer require an appointment be made first. Please see the Contact Us page for viewing hours.

3. Interest Form assessment

If you have registered an interest in any specific animal(s), our animal care team will review your Interest Form as quickly as possible to determine if you and the animal(s) are a good match for each other.

It is not always possible for us to respond to every applicant due to the volume of applications we receive for each animal. If after a week or two you have not heard back from us please assume your application was unsuccessful on this particular occasion.

This does not necessarily mean you were assessed as not being able to offer the animal a suitable home. It is often the case that another applicant may have submitted their interest form before you or may have been better suited for the particular animal, so please do not be put off from applying for another. You are welcome to fill out as many interest forms as animals you are interested in and each application will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

4. Receive a Phone call from the animal's carer

If considered a suitable match, one of our animal carers will contact you by phone to discuss your interest further, then an appointment may be made for you to meet your chosen animal.

They will be able to answer any questions you may have about the animal and give you more information about the animal's specific needs.

5. First meet with your chosen animal

A member of the animal care team will introduce you to your chosen animal. You will have the opportunity to spend time with the animal, ask questions and make sure it is a suitable match. Depending on how the meet goes, you can place a temporary or full reserve on the animal. Every person who resides at your home will be required to meet the animal before a full reserve can be placed however.

The animal's carer will advise if a second meet is required. It is not uncommon for animals to need more time to feel comfortable around new people and so second meets are often required for nervous or timid animals.

6. Second meet (where required)

Similar to your first meet, a member of the animal care team will facilite a meeting between you and your chosen animal and will be on hand to answer any further questions you may have.

Assuming all goes well, a full reserve can be placed on the animal at this stage after the meeting.

7. Arrange a home check

Once a full reserve has been placed on the animal, you will be put forward for a home check. Everyone adopting an animal through the centre is subject to a home check under RSPCA Policy to ensure your home is suitable for your prospective new animal. One of our home checkers will be in touch to arrange a time that is convenient to visit you. This can take up to 7-10 days after the Full Reserve has been placed, but we do try to complete them as quickly as possible.

The home checker will contact the centre and advise us of their visit. The home checker will advise if your house is ready, or we may be advised that work is needed to be carried out before your home is ready, or it might be that the home is not suitable for the animal in question. The centre will contact you to discuss any points raised by the home checker if necessary or to arrange collection of your new pet.

8. Arrange to take your new pet home

A time is arranged for you to come and collect your new pet. The outstanding balance of any remaining adoption fees must be paid in full at this time before the adoption paperwork can be completed. You will also need to ensure you are able to transport your new pet home safely.

PLEASE NOTE: Where applicable, you may not be able to collect your new pet until they have been neutered and medically signed off by our vet, if they have been on treatment during their time at the centre. We do allow some animals to be re-homed on treatment, but this is looked at on a case-by-case basis.
